汶川地震寄养在滇的大熊猫要离开云南了。15日,近万名市民冒雨前来告别第一只回家的大熊猫芊芊。
Kunming (CNS) -- Giant pandas farmed out to Yunnan Province four years ago are on their way home to the Wolong Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province. On July 15, nearly 10,000 citizens of Kunming came to bid farewell to Qianqian, the first giant panda to fly back home the next day.
Wolong Nature Reserve suffered severe damage in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake on May 12, 2008, and had to send its three two-year-old giant pandas Sijia, Qianqian and Meiqian to Yunnan Wildlife Park.
The reserve has a new look after renovations and the remaining grown-up giant pandas will now successively leave Kunming for their birth place over the remaining summer months. Sejia and Meidian will depart in late August.
