Hand puppets sure to steal show in London

　“3个人，10分钟，10多个木偶角色，演绎出一台《闹元宵》，这是我们即将在‘2012伦敦奥运巡礼――中国青少年赴英文艺交流活动’上展示给世人的精彩演出。”团长洪世键25日对中新社记者说。

Jinjiang (CNS) -- A dozen puppet characters controlled by three people will do a ten-minute, one act play during the 2012 London Fair period, said head of the puppet troupe Hong Shijian on Wednesday.

Glove puppetry is a folk art that originated and developed in the southern Fujian and Taiwan areas boasting a proud history of over 1,000 years.

At present the troupe is conducting intensive rehearsals in Jijiang city. The cast will depart on August 6, and perform at an evening party held at the Hackney Empire on August 9.

This is timeless and borderless entertainment, as foreign audiences can understand the puppet's facial expressions and body language, said Cai Meina, one of the three performers.
