Guangzhou (CNS) -- Forty old wells whose origins range from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Republic of China Period were discovered at a construction site on Dongfengzhong Road, Guangzhou City, the local Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology revealed on July 29.
The exploration site is an area of 350 square meters, five meters deep.
The remains of one structure is judged to be a water channel from the Han Dynasty, and such well-preserved wooden infrastructure is a rare discovery, says archeologist Yi Xibing.
About 400 recoverable cultural relics have been unearthed on the site, including nearly 40 Chinese porcelains of a great variety which originate mainly from the Song Dynasty.
