Zhengzhou (CNS) -- The Yellow River, China's the second largest river, formed three flood crests between July 28 to July 30. Overall emergency response procedures were immediately activated by local authority.
The provinces of Qinghai, Gansu, Shanxi and Shaanxi received high alert warnings from the authority on July 31, putting the population in dangerous areas on 24-hour standby to be transferred away.
At 10:18 am, July 30, when the third crest arrived at Lanzhou Station in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, the flow rate was clocked at 3,860 cubic meters per second, the worst swelling the river has experienced since 1986.
The Yellow River was rocked by the first 2 crests within 24 hours of each other between July 28 and 29, which forced 40,800 residents of Shanxi Province and Shaanxi Province to be evacuated.
