旅居华盛顿的中国大熊猫“美香”即日起进入孕期,但由于年龄偏大且多次假怀孕,园方估计受孕几率不到10%,可谓“好孕”难到。
Washington (CNS) -- Elevated hormone levels in the urine of giant panda Mei Xiang are higher than normal, indicating that she could be pregnant, the National Zoo in Washington DC announced Monday.
Because she is 14 years old and has already had several "pseudopregnancies," the chance of Mei Xiang being pregnant this time is less than 10 percent, said zoologists.
Mei Xiang was artificially inseminated in April by sperm from a panda called Tian Tian.
Based on previous experiences, Mei Xiang will either deliver a cub after 40 or 50 days or experience her sixth false alarm.
