Beijing (CNS) – A report on overseas studies by the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) was released Sunday in Beijing.
The report summarized new trends in overseas education that have evolved since 2000, including a greater diversity of destinations, more specialized fields, and various new methods of going abroad, said Wang Huiyao, director general of the CCG.
Since the reform and opening-up policy, the number of Chinese people who have gone abroad for education has reached nearly 2.5 million, the most in the world, said Ma Wenpu, chairman of the China Overseas-Educated Scholars Development Foundation.
In 2001, 339,700 people studied abroad, nearly equal to the overall number from 1978 to 2000, Ma added.
