Lanzhou (CNS) – Areas damaged by flooding along the banks of the Yellow River were cordoned off Wednesday in Lanzhou, capital of northwest China's Gansu province.

The local government said there was no timetable for reopening the areas.

The damage caused by the flooding is a warning for future landscape projects or plans, said Wang Liji, deputy director of Lanzhou's Bureau of Landscape and Forestry.

This year the city has experienced its worst flooding since 1986.
