Beijing (CNS) -- A large collection of relics related to an important Chinese scholar and reformist during the late Qing Dynasty and early Chinese Republic will be auctioned in December.
More than 950 items, including letters, manuscripts, books and furniture, that belonged to Liang Qichao at his former residence at No.54 Nanchang Street will be auctioned at a base price of 50 million yuan (US$7.92 million), the Beijing Council International Auction Company announced on Monday.
The majority of Liang's cultural relics have been donated to the National Library of China and the China First Historical Archives, but this batch of literature and other materials is the largest available on the market, said Xie Xiaodong, deputy general manager of the auction firm.
The literature includes 287 letters between Liang and major politicians during the Republic of China, including Kang Youwei, Yuan Shikai, Feng Guozhang and Sun Chuanfang, added Xie.
