Wuhan (CNS) – A newly renovated village in Hubei Province that is home to hundreds of Qing Dynasty frescos opened to tourists on Friday.
The Dayuwan Historic and Cultural Village in Huangpi District of Wuhan, the provincial capital, dates back to the Ming Dynasty more than 600 years ago.
Surrounded by mountains with a large pool at its center, the village is said to have nurtured many scholars during the Ming and Qing dynasties as well as in modern times.
A total of 75 ancient buildings are situated in an orderly fashion and most of the outer walls bear gorgeous frescos hand-made in the Qing Dynasty, a local villager said.
Other spots also have an ancient architectural style, like the pharmacy and ancestral hall, the villager added.
The village is among a second group of "Chinese Historical and Culture Villages" listed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage in 2009.
