Qinghai-Tibet Railway wins Beijing Design Award  

北京国际设计周开幕 青藏铁路夺经典设计奖

2012北京国际设计周开幕式暨颁奖典礼于28日晚在北京中华世纪坛举行，设计周推出的最高荣誉奖项——年度设计奖逐一揭晓。其中，被誉为“天路”的青藏铁路击败神舟飞船九号内部设计，荣获分量最重的经典设计奖。

Beijing (CNS) -- China's Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the world's highest rail system, won a "classic design" award at the 2012 Beijing Design Week which kicked off Friday.

Touted as the "Road to Heaven," half of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is built at an elevation of about 4,000 meters, crossing mountains, ravines, the Gobi Desert and frozen earth, among other hostile environments.

At yesterday's ceremony the Beijing Olympic Center, Beijing's Dashila Street, Shanghai's Xintiandi Style mall, the alleys of Chengdu and the Suzhou Museum were also awarded.

This year's Beijing Design Week will run till October 6.
