Controlling inflation top priority: PBOC   

易纲称控制通货膨胀是中国经济首要任务

中国人民银行副行长易纲14日在IMF世行年会上就中国货币政策和金融改革发表演说。易纲表示维持稳定货币市场是重中之重，而控制通胀、保持增长、创造就业和贸易平衡是中国面临的四大政策目标，央行将通过一揽子宏观政策加以应对。

Tokyo (CNS) -– The priority for China's central bank is controlling inflation, Yi Gang, deputy governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC), said on Sunday in Tokyo.

Yi delivered a nearly one-hour speech on China's monetary policy and financial reform on the last day of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings.

Inflation control, maintaining growth, job creation and trade balance are China's four aims, Yi said, adding that only after all the aims are achieved can the country move toward sustainable development.

Three methods of controlling inflation are opening market operations, exchange rate reform and interest rate reform, he said.

When asked about the internationalization of the renminbi, Yi said it should be motivated by a market mechanism, and that obstacles limiting the use of the renminbi should be removed to create an equally competitive environment.
