Guangzhou (CNS) -- Turnover at the 112th session of the Canton Fair, China's largest trade fair, reached US$32.68 billion as of Saturday, 9.3 percent lower than the spring session.
It's the second successive decline in turnover at the fair, which indicates that the severe state of China's foreign trade will continue, said spokesman Liu Jianjun on Sunday.
This fair saw declining demand from overseas buyers because of the slow recovery of the world economy, the more recent eurozone debt crisis and increasing trade protectionism, added Liu.
Turnover from the U.S. and European markets both declined by about 10 percent, while those from emerging markets also showed unexpected declines. Turnover declines of ASEAN and Middle Eastern countries were 7.9 percent and 5.7 percent respectively.
The fair, regarded as a barometer of China's export outlook, ended Sunday.
