Rudd calls for integration of values  

陆克文：维护和平繁荣需中西方价值观融合

Beijing (CNS) -- Former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd, also known as Lu Kewen, has said that peace and prosperity in Asia depend on the integration of Chinese and Western values.

Mr Rudd delivered a speech in Mandarin on Sunday at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Beijing Forum at Peking University.

How the West analyzes China and how China analyzes the West are crucial to a bright future, Rudd said. The West should take an overall analysis of China, while China should gain a deeper understanding of international political groups, he added.

Rudd said he appreciated the vision of a "harmonious world" as laid out by China's foreign policy, including Chinese traditional values and Confucianism.
