China to become ROK’s biggest tourist source

韩国国家竞争力委员会14日宣布，为进一步吸引中国游客赴韩旅游，政府计划进一步简化签证办理手续，实现韩中两国旅游区域一体化。

Beijing (CNS) -- China is expected to overtake Japan as the top source of tourists for South Korea, according to the ROK's Presidential Council on National Competitiveness on Wednesday.

Tourist volume to South Korea will exceed 10 million people in 2012, with the number of Chinese tourists growing at the fastest pace, so tourists from China will outnumber Japanese tourists in the near future, said an official from the council.

More than one million Chinese tourists chose Jeju Island to spend their holidays this year, according to Chosun Ilbo, a major South Korean daily.

To make sure Chinese tourists enjoy their trips to the country, a host of preferential policies is expected to be issued by the ROK government.
