Beijing (CNS) -- The property market in Beijing runs on a balance of supply and demand, and about 9,000 apartments will go on sale by the end of this year, a local official has said in response to rumors of "panic buying" in the capital's housing market.

In November, housing turnover hit 7,100 with a daily average of 270, lower than the average rate in the period from March to November, said the official from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

The speculative action of purchasing houses as investments has been effectively curbed, he said.

The government will insist on curbing the demands of investors, and home prices will not see a big rebound in the future, said the official, who reminded citizens to purchase homes based on practical needs.
