一辆满载22名游客的中型巴士,9日在台湾新竹县境内坠入数百米深的山谷,造成13人死亡、10人受伤。
Taipei (CNS) -- Thirteen people were killed and ten others injured Sunday afternoon when a tour bus fell into a ravine in northern Taiwan's Hsinchu County.
The accident occurred on a narrow mountainous road during a rainstorm. Witnesses said the driver stalled the engine to avoid going off the cliff, but the bus slipped backward through a guardrail.
There were 22 passengers on board, most of them in their 60s. The majority of the injuries were fractured bones. The driver suffered a head wound but has remained conscious so far.
The accident is under investigation, but the bus driver has a clean record, said local authorities.
