Zhao Mengfu’s art auctions for 126 mln yuan  

元赵孟頫书画拍出1.26亿元 创中国书画在美纪录

中国元代著名画家、楷书四大家之一赵孟頫书画珍品9日在纽约拍卖会上以1.26亿元人民币天价成交。

New York (CNS)-- A painting and a calligraphy work by Zhao Mengfu, a famous artist from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), sold for 126 million yuan (US$20 million) at a Sunday auction in New York.

The pieces were sold to an anonymous Chinese mainlander, according to Mr. Kwong Lum, a prestigious overseas Chinese collector living in the U.S.

The two works are the most expensive of their kind ever auctioned in the U.S. or Europe.
