随着12月21日临近,“末日说”再次引发关注。北京天文馆馆长日前从天文学的角度阐释了“末日说”的非科学性,表示玛雅历法中的“末日”之期已过,21日这一天没有任何特殊之处。
Beijing (CNS)-- The so-called "doomsday" on the Mayan Calendar has already passed, so nothing special will occur on December 21, said Zhu Jin, curator of the Beijing Planetarium, on Tuesday.
The "end of days" on the Mayan Calendar fell on June 6 this year in accordance with the Gregorian calendar, Zhu said.
Moreover, the "doomsday" view is based on a sudden changing of the magnetic fields at the poles of Earth. Yet all the shifts and changes of the planet's magnetic fields are cyclical phenomena, and their processes takes thousands of years, Zhu added.
Rumors have circulated in recent years that doomsday would arrive on December 21, 2012, causing superstitious fear and paranoia.
