Salamander set to break Guinness record

一条正在湖南张家界安享晚年的高龄大鲵有望成为“世界最大的中国大鲵”。该大鲵名为“笨笨”，目前已年近130岁，体长近2米。

Zhangjiajie (CNS) -- A biotechnology company in Hunan Province is getting ready to submit a two-meter-long giant salamander to the Guinness World Records, the company's chairman said Thursday.

"Ben Ben" the salamander is 130 years old, said Wang Jianwen, chairman of the Jinni Bio-Technology Company in Zhangjiajie. Normally, a 1.5-meter-long giant salamander is large enough, so Ben Ben's size is very rare, he added.

Wang's father bought Ben Ben from a neighboring villager in 1982.
