Shanghai (CNS)-- Plans for the reform of Shanghai's public hospitals, which include "patient-oriented" measures, were mapped out Wednesday at a government conference.
The target of the reform is to "mobilize the enthusiasm" of medical personnel in order to benefit the general public, said Han Zheng, secretary of the Communist Party of China Shanghai Municipal Committee.
The reform includes the establishment of a new managerial mechanism at public hospitals in district and county areas; the adding of special hospital beds for the elderly; and the implementation of patient-oriented measures, he said.
Han also called for pilot reforms of four newly established tertiary hospitals in the Shanghai suburbs.
