Beijing (CNS) -- A report jointly released Monday by the China Consumers' Association and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences says that sustainable consumption in China is healthy overall.

The comprehensive index, which includes consumers' purchasing tendencies, willingness to pay and actual behavior, reached 74.7, the report says.

Analysts have said that urgent reforms are needed to shift China's economy from an investment-led model to one that is more disciplined and driven by sustainable consumption.

The report, which is the first of its kind in the country, also offers advice for policy implementation in the future.
