Hong Kong (CNS) -- Hong Kong's logistics industry must act quickly to meet tougher anti-terrorism security measures, said Hong Kong Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah on Sunday.

The European Union and the United States are planning tighter regulations for inspections of incoming cargo at airports. Such advanced screening is also expected of Hong Kong's air cargo logistics, said Tsang.

Tsang advised the industry to prepare so that Hong Kong businesses are among the first service providers to satisfy the requirements.

The Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department and the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department are now working in a concerted effort with the logistics sector, Tsang added.
