中国国家知识产权局官员21日驳斥个别西方国家提出的“中国知识产权保护不力”问题称,“中国政府一贯坚持加强知识产权保护,也一直致力于在全社会营造尊重知识产权的良好氛围”。
Beijing (CNS) -- A senior official at the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) on Thursday dismissed accusations of weak intellectual property protection and called for more international cooperation.
Cao Donggen, vice-director of SIPO's patent administration department, said at a news briefing that the Chinese government continues to strengthen IP protection and is committed to creating a more open and respectful environment for intellectual property.
IP protection is an issue of universal concern and violation cases occur in almost all countries, said Cao, adding that countries should enhance cooperation instead of accusing each other unreasonably.
Cao cited the 1.25 million patents that had been granted to enterprises with foreign capital in China by the end of 2012, saying that if intellectual property protection in China is "a mess," why have so many enterprises applied and transferred patents here?
A nine-month police sweep was carried out from October 2010 to June 2011 to crack down on intellectual property rights violations and the production and sale of fake goods, he added.
