(Ecns.cn) -- Public diplomacy is becoming increasingly important in modern times, says Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang during an exclusive interview with China News Service on Friday afternoon.

With China's national strength and international influence growing rapidly, the international community is paying more attention to us and more foreign countries have showed their willingness to cooperate with China in different fields, says Qin.

At the same time, amid the growing global unease at China's rise, some people are making irresponsible remarks and spreading opinions that do not benefit China, among which the "China Responsibility" theory, the "China Threat" theory and the "Collapse of China" theory are most frequently cited, says Qin.

To overcome misunderstandings, prejudice and suspicions from the outside world, in recent years, the Chinese government has actively engaged in public diplomacy, says Qin.

Only through enhancing communication and mutual understanding can we promote positive interactions with other nations and thus handle all relationships properly, says Qin.

With various public diplomacy strategies planned, China is trying to show a good image of the country to the world in an objective manner, says Qin.

If there are fewer misunderstandings, less friction and hindrance from the outside world, China's development will be much smoother in the future, says Qin.
