Qingdao (CNS) -- The Dongjiakou harbor area of Qingdao port completed construction of a dock on Saturday in east China's Shandong province. With an ore processing capacity of 300,000 tons, it is the largest ore dock in the world.
With the sea on three sides, the Dongjiakou harbor area is near the international marine channel, making it an excellent deepwater harbor, according to its manager.
"Commodities were loaded on small ships and pulled into the harbor before. Now, a ship with a tonnage of 300,000 can sail directly into the port," said Cao Fangliang, the harbor's manager.
