DPRK becomes hot travel destination for Chinese

记者10日从吉林省延边州相关部门及旅行社了解到，当地组团赴朝鲜旅游业务，从今年3月起已逐渐进入旺季，比往年提前了近一个月的时间，并且今年报名参加赴朝游的人数比往年有所增加。

Yanji (CNS) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has become a hot travel destination for Chinese people living in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin province, according to the local tourism department in Yanbian on Sunday.

Since the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture shares a border of more than 520 km with DPRK, DPRK has long been a hot travel destination for people in Yanbian.

The number of Chinese tourists visiting DPRK has been increasing since its opening of several cities to Chinese tourists, including Rason, Chongjin, and Mount Kumgang.

Tourists can choose various ways to visit DPRK, including expressway, railway, and travel by car.

Three tour groups have gone to DPRK since the lunar new year, according to the Tumenjiang International Travel Agency in Tumen,a city in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture.

The number of tourists signing up for the tour groups DPRK has been on the increase, according to the Tumenjiang International Travel Agency.

The Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture was founded in September 1952. It is the largest region where ethnic Koreans live in their own communities and the only minority prefecture in Northeast China.
