Year-long cultural festival begins in Shanghai

吴侬软语的《天涯歌女》，中外籍混搭乐队的爵士乐声，旗袍美女的翩然起舞……23日，为期整整一年的首届上海市民文化节正式启幕。

Shanghai (CNS) -- A year-long festival aimed at enriching the cultural lives of residents has gotten underway in Shanghai.

More than 1,000 activities including jazz dance parties and lectures on tea ceremonies were held in community centers and outdoor squares in the city on Sunday.

The festival is designed to expose residents to more Shanghai-style cultural activities, said Xiao Yeying, curator of the Shanghai Mass Art Center.

The festival has scheduled 22,000 cultural activities for this year.
