Changchun (CNS) – The manufacturer of the CRH380B bullet trains on the Harbin-Dalian High-speed Railway has addressed safety concerns ahead of an increase in speed for the warmer months ahead.

Zhu Yan, project chief of the weather-proof trains built by the CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, said they are coordinating with railway departments to conduct thorough examinations and ensure safety ahead of the speed boost.

"Our technicians are conducting depot examinations every day," Zhu said, adding that they will check the traction and braking systems of all CRH380Bs before April 21.

"We already had a 2-month trial run before operating on December 1 last year. It worked very well and all indexes were up to standards," he said.

The bullet trains have withstood cold winds and blizzards without major failures, accidents or large scale delays, and they will be able to run "with ease" in the hot summer, he added.

"We have special high temperature-proof designs. For example, we have added a special structure beneath the railway equipment compartment to keep warm in the winter. In summer, the grill will be removed so that the cooling capacity of major equipment will be maximized to ensure normal operations in hot weather," he said.

The Harbin-Dalian High-Speed Railway is the first alpine high-speed rail line in the world.
