Xingtai (CNS) -- The price of honeysuckle, a type of traditional Chinese medicine, has skyrocketed in recent days, after the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine issued a recipe with honeysuckle to prevent H7N9 avian influenza infection.
Honeysuckle is now out of stock in Julu county, the famous "Chinese honeysuckle town" in Hebei province's Xingtai, according to Guo Qinghui, president of the Association of Honeysuckle there.
Guo said that the price of dried honeysuckle flower has doubled from previous years.
The price of dried honeysuckle flower has reached 160 yuan ($25.80) per kilogram. The sales volume has also quadrupled recently, Guo added.
Besides honeysuckle, the recipe also includes other Chinese medicines such as radix scutellariae and folium mori.
