《中学生阅读行动指南》23日由中国教育学会中学语文教学专业委员会、北京大学语文教育研究所、北京语言大学、中国教育报、商务印书馆联合发布。
Beijing (Ecns) -- A guide aimed at encouraging middle school students in China to read more was issued on Tuesday.
It was jointly delivered by the Chinese Society of Education, Beijing Language and Culture University, China Education Daily, and the Commercial Press.
It provides a list of recommended books for middle school students, covering literature, history, philosophy, science, social science, art, and natural history.
All the books selected are masterpieces, and include One Hundred Years of Solitude by Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Nahan (Call to Arms) by Chinese writer Lu Xun, and A Brief History of Everything by American author Bill Bryson.
"In China, the number of books targeted at middle school students is quite limited," said Li Yuming, one of the language experts who examined and helped revise the guide.
Li also called on writers in China to write more books for middle school students.
