(CNS) -- A suspect in a poisoning case at a college dormitory in Shanghai has been arrested, according to the local procuratorate's website on Thursday.
The Huangpu District People's Procuratorate of Shanghai approved the arrest of a postgraduate surnamed Lin at the medical school of Fudan University on suspicion of intentional homicide.
The victim, Lin's roommate, surnamed Huang, felt ill on April 1 and later died in hospital after drinking from the water dispenser in his room at the dormitory.
Police detained Lin on April 12 after an investigation. Lin held a grudge against his roommate over "trivial daily matters" and plotted the poisoning, according to the police's preliminary investigation.
Lin placed a toxic chemical compound he had used in a lab experiment in the water dispenser on March 31, said the police statement.
