(ECNS) -- The social supervisory committee of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) said on Friday that the charity organization has not decided to re-probe the case that involved it in a trust crisis two years ago, according to China National Radio.
Wang Yong, spokesman of the committee, said he and another member of the committee, Liu Shuwei, have suggested that the RCSC be subject to a renewed investigation into the case involving Guo Meimei. The suggestion has also won support from Huang Weimin, a third committee member, he added.
Wang said media reports had given the wrong impression about the suggestion of another investigation.
The proposal needs support from more than half of the committee members to be adopted, Wang said. Once adopted, we will invite the public to the investigation, he added.
The reputation of the RCSC took a major hit two years ago, when a young woman calling herself Guo Meimei used social media to say she was a manager at the organization while openly flaunting her wealth.
