Beijing (CNS) – The overall credibility of China's media is falling, while the credibility of new media is surging, according to a poll released Saturday.
A report on China's media credibility was released by the communication effect experiment lab at Beijing Normal University during a forum.
The report said TV news outlets and newspapers still have the upper hand, but they are losing dominance. The Internet now follows the two on the credibility list, it said.
China Central TV enjoys a much higher ranking than local TV stations, and it tops the list in every city's poll.
Zhang Hongzhong, head of the lab, said the fall of media credibility cannot be reversed and is a complex result of people's higher education, the emergence of new media and communicating tools, and changes in the social trust system.
The poll covers nearly 100 media channels, including newspapers, TV stations and websites of 12 cities.
