广东省副省长林少春8日到汕尾市督导检查H7N9禽流感防控,他在市政府机关食堂进工作餐时带头吃鸡,并表示不要“谈禽色变”,盲目恐慌。
Guangzhou (CNS) -- Lin Shaochun, vice governor of Guangdong province in South China, took the lead in eating chicken to ease the public's fear of tainted poultry.
Lin ate food made with chicken and eggs in the government canteen during an inspection of H7N9 prevention in Shanwei city on Wednesday.
Lin said the provincial government has tightened control of live poultry trade markets and hoped citizens can be rational about the spread of the new strain of bird flu.
Zhang Yonghui, head of the provincial disease prevention center, said H7N9 avian influenza virus can be easily killed after being heated in 100℃ for two to three minutes.
The Chinese government on Wednesday urged greater effort to ensure smooth agricultural production needed to sustain growth in the world's second-largest economy, amid multiple events that have pummeled the farming industry.
