记者12日从中国科学院获悉,中科院院士、中科院理化技术研究所研究员陈创天荣获2013年度国际晶体生长协会最高奖之一的Laudise奖,这是中国科学家获得的国际晶体生长协会首个最高奖。
Beijing (CNS) -- Chinese crystal material scientist and researcher Chen Chuangtian was awarded the Laudise Prize by the International Organization for Crystal Growth (IOCG), according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Sunday.
This is the highest IOCG award won by a Chinese scientist.
Chen, born in 1937, is a CAS academician and researcher at the CAS Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry. He is also a researcher at the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World.
Chen's Anionic group theory of the Nonlinear Optical (NLO) properties of crystals, later known as the NLO active group theory, has successfully been applied to the search for new types of inorganic NLO materials. The research group under his leadership discovered new NLO crystals that may have applications of great importance in industry.
A 180-million-yuan CAS project, launched in 2008 under Chen's leadership, retains China's position as the international leader in the field of deep UV technology.
IOCG established two prizes, the Frank Prize and the Laudise Prize, to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of crystal growth. The Frank Prize is awarded for significant fundamental contributions to the field of crystal growth, and the Laudise Prize for significant technological contributions. The prizes are awarded every three years.
