5月12日是一年一度的母亲节，停泊在维多利亚港尖沙咀海傍的超可爱黄色橡皮巨鸭，成为港人今年庆祝母亲节的其中一个热点。

Hong Kong (CNS) — Accompanying moms to see the giant yellow rubber duck, sending flowers and having a big dinner are some of the ways Hong Kongers celebrated Mother's Day on May 12.

The giant yellow rubber duck anchored at Victoria Harbor in Tsim Sha Tsui district became a hot spot for Mother's Day. The art installation, reminiscent of a childhood toy, bore witness to the joy and laughter of this year's holiday. Residents in Hong Kong brought their mothers to the harbor in the morning to take photos with the giant duck.

The 16.5-meter bright yellow creature attracted a large numbers of visitors when it made landfall at Victoria Harbor earlier this month.

In addition, major streets in Hong Kong were also alive with a festive atmosphere. Float parades were held, and flower bouquets were given away to mothers to show gratitude.

A large shopping mall in Hong Kong also called on all children and family members to join in showing support and repaying love to all mothers for their selfless devotion.

Yang Weixing, chairman of the Association for Hong Kong Catering Services Management, said that Hong Kong residents, who regard filial piety as a traditional virtue, would not hesitate to spend money on a big restaurant meal with their mothers on this special day.

Restaurant reservations and table bookings were hot ahead of Mother's Day in Hong Kong.

And business at florist shops also boomed on this special day. The price of carnations and roses went up 30 to 40 percent this year, according to a flower wholesale businessman.

"Mother's Day is a day for all children in Hong Kong to set aside some time and take a day off their busy schedule to accompany their living mothers or to honor their deceased mothers," Chun-Ying Leung, chief executive of HKSAR, said on his blog.
