“台湾生活精品市集”试水中国西部 美食受青睐

年来随着中国西部内陆经济的发展，台湾制造对“西部潜力”的开拓愈发重视。14日，为期13天的“台湾生活精品市集”首次亮相西安，与以往台湾展会上电子与科技研发产品唱主角不同，“宝岛美食”成为此次活动“关键词”。

Xi'an (CNS)— Taiwan food has been particularly popular at the Taiwan Life Item Fair in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, according to reports.

The fair opened on May 14 and will last for 13 days. Some 30 Taiwan companies are taking part.

The fair features Taiwan specialties such as food, premium tea, wine, creative home furnishings, jewelry and jade.

Some of the most representative local specialties like oolong tea, pineapple pastries, black caviar, dried fruits and nougat have become hot sellers.

As mainland consumers get to know more about products made in Taiwan, the fair is seen as an important channel for small and medium-sized enterprises to tap into the mainland market, said Hu Waisheng, a dried-fruit seller and exhibitor at the fair.

It is all the more important for these enterprises to convey the Taiwan lifestyle to mainlanders while promoting their brands, Hu added.

As Taiwan food becomes more popular among mainland consumers, the confidence of these enterprises to successfully tap into the western market will be greatly bolstered, Hu said.

The Taiwan Life Item Fair is sponsored by the Cross Strait Economic and Scientific Cooperation center of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

Since 2010, the fair has been held in cities including Beijing, Qingdao, Jinan, Tangshan and Weifang to promote premium Taiwan products and cross-strait economic and trade exchanges.
