6 Asians shortlisted for Van Cliburn piano competition

世界著名的范·克莱本国际钢琴大赛即将于5月24日至6月9日在美国得克萨斯州沃斯堡(Fort Worth)举行,包括中国选手在内的30位参赛者22日集体亮相,为大赛揭幕。

Dallas (ECNS) -- Six Asian pianists are among the finalists at the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition held in Fort Worth, Texas.

A total of 30 finalists appeared at a launch ceremony for the competition on Wednesday.

Three of the six Asians are from China's mainland. Dong Feifei, Yuan Jie and Huang Ruoyu are postgraduate students at the Juilliard School in the United States. The other three Asian finalists are from Taiwan, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Chinese pianist Liu Shih-Kun and Chinese American conductor Zhang Xian are among the 13 judges for the competition, which begins today and lasts until June 9.

Founded in 1962, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is one of the most influential piano competitions in the world.
