(ECNS) -- China Report, the UK edition of China Newsweek, one of China's top investigative journals, made its debut in Britain on Tuesday, becoming the first Chinese news magazine to enter the UK.
Thus China Newsweek has become a multi-lingual journal with overseas versions published in the UK, the US, Japan, South Korea, Italy and South Asia.
"The media plays a crucial role in mutual exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK. China Report will be sure to play a big role in promoting the British public's understanding about China in the political, economic and cultural fields," said Mark Hendrick, a member of the British Parliament.
Liu Beixian, president of China News Service and publisher of China Newsweek, said, "With its rapid economic growth in the past decades, China has undergone enormous changes. Western audiences are often torn between the stereotypical perception of China and the modern reality of the country. The new magazine aims to bridge this gap and facilitate understanding and trust between China and the West.
"China Report will adhere to its integrity and tell the British public China's stories truly, objectively, comprehensively and intensively. Through objective and timely reports, political leaders, top academics and opinion formers in Europe will be informed of the issues that really interest the Chinese, and the challenges faced by the country in its effort to integrate into the world."
Published monthly in collaboration with Foremost 4 Media, a London-based media services company, the English edition brings to UK and European readers original stories about China's far-reaching reform and opening up, multidimensional portraits, and authoritative analyses.
"By providing unique access and additional dimensions to China stories, in English and published locally, the magazine is both learning from its Western counterparts and trying to reshape perception of the world's most populous country," said Chen Shirong, editor-in-chief of Foremost 4 Media.
