(ECNS) -- Hong Kong will set its first official poverty line in September, according to Leung Chun-ying, chief executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Monday.
The Commission on Poverty in Hong Kong is expected to set the poverty line, said Leung, adding that the move demonstrates the commission's determination in poverty alleviation efforts.
Besides setting the poverty line, four new relief projects will be added to Hong Kong's Community Care Fund under the Commission on Poverty, according to Leung.
The four projects, which have been designed to bring benefits to people with physical disabilities, poor students and low-income families suffering from poor living environment, were approved by the Commission on Poverty on Monday.
A total of 560,000 people will benefit from the projects.
