Hong Kong (CNS) -- Domestic buyers are expected to be the strongest purchasers of luxury yachts at the upcoming 2013 China (Macao) International Yacht Import and Export Fair, according to a program organizer on Tuesday.
The fair will feature new products from over 30 premium yacht brands from around the world. Hundreds of yacht clubs from home and abroad and over a thousand potential buyers have signed up to the event.
The fair has also emerged as a bridge linking the mainland yacht market to Macao's.
At a previous session of the fair in 2012, over 60 percent of the yacht buyers were from the mainland, according to Wang Hongguo, an official at the China Ocean Aviation Group.
The yacht industry in the mainland is still booming, said Wang, who compared it to the auto industry two decades ago on the mainland.
It was hard for people to own private cars 20 years ago, but as cars became more affordable and the regulation of the auto industry has improved, more and more Chinese have become car owners. The same thing is happening with the yacht industry, Wang added.
The three day fair will open on November 1 in Macao.
