(ECNS) -- Tour guides have warned Chinese visitors about potential threats at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, including aggressive panhandlers, according to the World Journal (US).

Security at the tourist spot has not improved since a visitor's death last month and more panhandlers are targeting Chinese visitors, the report said.

The TCL Chinese Theatre was packed with tourists Monday, attracting beggars and costumed street performers who demanded money to pose in pictures. They were particularly enthusiastic about Chinese visitors, and behaved rudely when refused.

Tony Yu, a tourist guide, said several Chinese students were charged 20 dollars after being stopped and forced to take photos with a panhandler last week. Others were forced to buy 10-dollar CDs and not given change after handing over a 20 dollar bill.

Another tourist guide named Tom Liang said he always tells Chinese tourists to be careful when approaching anyone on the street.

Ada Hu, a tourist from Beijing, said she was molested by street performers after she refused to take photos with transients.

Danny Chao, a local police officer, advised tourists to ask for prices before taking photos and buying things. Visitors should call 911 if a dispute arises, he added.

Christine Calderon, 23, of Lynwood, California, was stabbed to death Tuesday evening after she took pictures of three panhandlers and refused to pay $1 for it, according to reports.
