(ECNS)-- China's embassy in Botswana has called on Chinese nationals there to take precautions in the wake of multiple armed robberies targeting Chinese employees.
Public security in Botswana has been deteriorating as the country suffers from the impacts of unemployment and an economic downturn.
Armed robberies targeting Chinese have become rampant in Botswana recently. A notice published by the embassy advises Chinese nationals in the country to take care of personal belongings and refrain from going out at night.
Chinese in Botswana are also advised not to carry large amounts of cash when they go out, and should always go out in the company of others.
Chinese-invested enterprises in the country are suggested to strengthen security measures at their company facilities, including offices, storehouses, and construction sites.
When encountering violent incidents, Chinese nationals can contact local police or seek help from the Chinese embassy.
