(ECNS) -- Chinese buyers, keen to pursue lucky numbers, helped push the price of a house in Melbourne's eastern suburbs $150,000 higher than expected, according to a Chinese-language Australian website.
Ten buyers bid for the house at No. 98 Shafer Road with an area of 588 square meters, and many of them were attracted by the auspicious number "eight," a report on xkb.com.au said.
Tim Heavyside, director of Fletchers, a local real estate agent, said the house "attracted huge Chinese interest because it featured so many number eights," and the price set a record on Shafer Road, although the area was already favored by foreign buyers.
