(ECNS) -- The Taipei Zoo will webcast the daily lives of panda cub Yuan Zai and her mother, according to Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin on Tuesday.
The live broadcast will not be 24 hours a day, however, as the zoo wants to give the cub and her mother more privacy, said Hau.
The video will be made available on the official website of the Taipei Zoo at the end of October.
Discussions about Yuan Zai have dominated media over the past week following zookeeper attempts to reunite the cub and her mother.
The cub was taken away from her mother shortly after birth and placed in an incubator. Newborn giant panda cubs are very small and frail compared to adults, which can harm their young.
The cub has been under the intensive care of a team of specialists since her birth on July 6. She weighed 183.4 grams at birth and is now 2,320 grams, according to the zoo.
The birth, which created a big sensation in Taiwan, came after four years of artificial insemination attempts, using sperm from the only other giant panda at the zoo, Tuan Tuan. The pair of giant pandas was given to Taiwan four years ago by the mainland.
