(ECNS) -- A wanted man from New Taipei City surrendered to local police on his way home Saturday evening, reportedly only to avoid paying cab fare, according to Taiwan media.
While having dinner with his friends in Keelung, the wanted man named Cai, 37, received a call informing him that he was wanted for fraud. He soon left the restaurant and headed home.
However, Cai changed his mind when he saw a police raid at an intersection. To save the taxi fare home, he went to the booth and told police officers that he was the man they wanted.
The police officers thought he was a drunken troublemaker at first, but after checking his identity found that he was the wanted man.
