(ECNS) -- Police in Liuzhi district, Guizhou province, have rescued four kidnapped children and arrested their captor in early August, according to Guizhou Metropolis Daily.
Hu Jiafeng, who is 35, married and infertile, had kidnapped and trafficked children under the guidance of fortune-tellers, police said.
Street fortune-tellers had told Hu to raise other people's kids first, then she could have her own baby. They also said she needed to burn real money in offering to bodhisattva.
Hu kidnapped the first child last November. But instead of raising it on her own, she took the child to Anyang, Henan province to sell.
Despite opposition from her sister, Hu continued to kidnap "appropriate" kids.
Hu profited over 100,000 yuan (US$16,388 dollars) from child trafficking, but the police only found around 100 yuan ($16 dollars) in her accounts.
"I've burn the money to bodhisattva," Hu said.
