(ECNS) -- An application called SMS Bomber, which can be used to send unlimited messages to any target phone number, has attracted a large number of users online, the Chongqing Evening News reports.
The software sends SMS advertisements when a user enters the targeted numbers and clicks the "Bombardment" button. And it won't stop until the user clicks "Cancel."
Some netizens think it is an ideal app to counterattack the crank calls and spam messages they have received, but also worry they could receive another round of SMS "bombs" themselves.
Chen Ting, a Chongqing-based lawyer, says users who maliciously harass other people with the app are engaging in illegal activity.
Liu Jun, director of a Chongqing web alliance, says phone users can complain to the service center of the Chongqing Communications Administration (hotline: 12300) or the mobile telecom carriers.
