Students charge their cellphones at the school canteen.
(ECNS) -- A technical school in Luoyang, Central China's Henan province, failed to install outlets in the dormitories, and students had to pay half-yuan to charge their cellphones at the canteen, according to dahe.cn.
A student surnamed Wang said as they were unable to charge their cellphones in the dorms, they had to charge at the canteen, where about 130 wall outlets were installed.
Very few classrooms offered free charging stations, Wang said. Charging costs for a mobile phone is about 2.5 yuan ($ 0.4) a day, Wang added.
A school security guard said the school didn't install outlets in the dorms for safety reasons. "Many students want to use high power devices in dorms, which may catch fire easily."
But Wang didn't accept the guard's explanation. "At least the school can provide a space in the dorms for us to charge cellphones," he said.
