(ECNS) -- US Customs said moon cakes with well-cooked egg yolk are permitted to enter the country, which is good news for Chinese tourists, according to US-based Sing Tao Daily.
Any food containing meat is still banned.
Mike Ferguson, agriculture specialist at US Customs and Border Protection, said Customs has adopted the new policy and allowed the entry of cooked egg products from Asian countries.
Food products containing eggs were banned to prevent avian influenza virus in the eggs from spreading in the country, Ferguson said, and Customs lifted the ban as the virus has come under effective control.
